THE STORY OF A CRAFTSMAN

I was nine years old when I saw a lathe for the first time.
Seeing that machine which transformed common iron into perfect shiny pieces was like an enlightment, a fascinating spectacle, and I started asking myself if, one day, I would have been able to make that machine work. That man that ran the lathe was like a magician to me.
When you are a child, everyone asks you what do you want to be when you grow up and the grown-ups expect answers like, for example, a fireman, a pilot, an astronaut... Well, after that day I wanted to be “that man”.

I had to wait till I was 16 to try the thrill of seeing my first pieces produced on lathe.
My father taught me what all those levers and knobs were for.

In the beginning it was a real disaster. Each operation would end up in a disappointment. I couldn't understand why the same operation carried out by my teacher would lead to a final piece, while l would end up only with heaps of burrs and blunt tools.

My father would always say that if we had the will, the passion and the persistence, there wasn't much we couldn't do.

After a few years as a mechanical lathe turner in a big Italian company in the drilling field, mainly abroad, I was told it was time to leave for Mozambique.
When I was a kid I spent about ten years around the world, following my father since I was five (and attending schools in remote places in Africa and Argentina). I didn't feel like living that same life as my father did, so I declined.
Thanks to my father, in 1985 at 21, I opened the turnery I had always dreamed of.

In the beginning I would do a bit of everything, but I soon realised that pieces in series were not for me.
Slowly customers started to come, and many needed small equipment for special works. Tools that were not commercialised. That's how they started requesting all kinds of devices for the most diverse requirements.

Things, as we all know, get exponential, so from the first simple applications, I soon started producing real automated machinery with plc, pneumatic logic, stepper motors, proximity sensors, photocells, etc...
Obviously, for everything concerning the systems, I have always counted on the collaboration of external specialised firms.

At the same time, for many years, I dedicated the night hours to my passion, i.e.:  modifying simple old road bikes into custom bikes (Harley type). Today they are very trendy and well known worldwide, but back in 1986, they were quite ahead of time!

My driving force has always been the desire to know and to experience. That's how I ended up having to do with plating, sandblasting, varnishing, plasticising, and how I automatically applied my experience to everyday work.

By taking a close look at my manufacturings, you will notice that the utmost attention has been paid on, not only their functional aspect, but also on the slightest detail, as a result of a meticulous research and care for aesthetics.

After 28 years dedicated to my job, with a passion as if it were a mission, I can say that what has always accompanied me throughout these years is the respect for the client, who makes you take part in their project and become its creator; the pleasure of delivering a final product as only a craftsman can do, in the continuous quest for perfection as an ultimate goal.
